Summer meals and menus

Liberty Central School District will again offer free summer meals to all children 18 and younger through the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program.

Starting June 30, sit-down and bagged breakfasts and lunches will be served at Francis A. Hanofee Park at 136 Sunset Lake Road in Liberty. Breakfast will be served from 8 to 9 a.m., with lunch served from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Meals will be served weekdays, except Friday, July 4, through Aug. 18 at the park. From Aug. 18 to 22, meals will be served at Liberty Elementary, with breakfast offered from 8:15 to 9 a.m. and breakfast from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The planned meals are as follows (for the first five weeks, the final three weeks will be posted when available):

Breakfast

  • Mondays: Whole grain/reduced sugar Honey Nut Cheerios or Cinnamon Chex, 100% orange juice or fresh orange, 1% or fat-free milk.
  • Tuesdays:  Whole grain strawberry PopTart or whole grain Rice Krispies, 100% apple juice or fresh apple slices, 1% or fat-free milk.
  • Wednesdays: Whole grain bagel with cream cheese or whole grain/reduced sugar Lucky Charms, 100% fruit punch or craisins, 1% or fat-free milk.
  • Thursdays: Whole grain Blueberry Muffin or wholegrain/reduced sugar Cocoa Puffs, 100% grape juice or fresh apple, 1% or fat-free milk.
  • Fridays (no meal July 4): Variety of whole grain/reduced sugar cereal, 100% fruit juice or fresh fruit, 1% or fat-free milk.

Lunch

All sandwiches also contain lettuce, except peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

  • Monday, June 30: Whole grain, chicken Caesar wrap, or PBJ, canned pears, baby carrots, 1% milk or fat-free chocolate milk.
  • Tuesday, July 1: Whole grain roast beef and provolone or PBJ, fresh peaches, broccoli, 1% milk or fat-free chocolate milk.
  • Wednesday, July 2: Turkey and cheese on whole grain roll or PBJ, canned Mandarin oranges, cucumber coins, 1% milk or fat-free chocolate milk.
  • Thursday, July 3: Chicken in a pita or PBJ, fresh watermelon, pepper slices, 1% milk or fat-free chocolate milk.
  • Friday, July 4: No meals served (Independence Day).
  • Monday, July 7:  Whole grain chicken tender and cheese wrap or PBJ, canned pears, baby carrots, 1% milk or fat-free chocolate milk.
  • Tuesday, July 8: Whole grain ham and cheese or PBJ, fresh peaches, broccoli, 1% milk or fat-free chocolate milk.
  • Wednesday, July 9: Turkey and cheese on a whole grain roll or PBJ, canned Mandarin oranges, cucumber coins, 1% milk or fat-free chocolate milk.
  • Thursday, July 10: Italian combo with cheese wrap, or PBJ, fresh watermelon, pepper slices, 1% milk or fat-free chocolate milk.
  • Friday, July 11: Chicken in a pita or PBJ, canned or fresh fruit and fresh vegetables, 1% milk or fat-free chocolate milk.
  • Monday, July 14: Whole grain, chicken Caesar wrap, or PBJ, canned pears, baby carrots, 1% milk or fat-free chocolate milk.
