The following letter has been sent home to parents and guardians at Liberty Middle School on Monday, Nov. 5.
As you are aware we are in the process of cleaning, repairing and or replacing our instrument inventory due to exposure to mold. This has been a lengthy, but necessary step to ensure the health and safety of the students. Many instruments have been returned and given to the students, however, we still have several that are not back yet. This has obviously effected our band and orchestra from adequate rehearsal time and unfortunately resulted in some winter concert changes as outlined below.
The 5/6 Winter concert scheduled for Dec. 5 has been cancelled for the band/orchestra students. The Chorus will perform at the 7/8 winter concert on Dec. 10 with a snow date of Dec. 12.
The 7/8 Winter concert on Dec. 10 (snow date also Dec. 12) will go on as scheduled. The 5/6 chorus will also perform at this concert. The Jazz Ensemble is scheduled to perform this evening, but there is some uncertainty if they will be ready because of limited rehearsals. Mr. Aweh will make that decision within the next few weeks and communicate any changes to those of you who would be impacted.
On behalf of the music faculty and administration we thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
Timothy Hamblin, Director of Music
