Sports schedule, and results, for the week of April 10-16, 2023

Our athletes will be in action in baseball, softball, golf, tennis and track and field this week.

Monday, April 10

Tuesday, April 11

4 p.m.: Varsity softball vs. Fallsburg at Liberty High School.
Results: Liberty 30, Fallsburg 7
Liberty had a balanced offensive attack as all 9 of their starters scored multiple runs. Quinn Allen went 3-5 with a double, 4 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Arianna Wilson chipped in two hits with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored while Grace Wormuth finished 2-3, with two walks, 3 RBI, and 4 runs scored. Nevaeh Davis, Angie Wheeler and Megan Schmidt also scored 4 times for Liberty. Angie Wheeler earned her first Varsity win pitching 5 innings while giving up just 4 hits and striking out 7. Records: Liberty 1-1 (1-0 League)

Wednesday, April 12

4:15 p.m.: JV baseball vs. Tri-Valley at Liberty High School.

4:30 p.m.: Varsity baseball vs. Fallsburg at Fallsburg Junior/Senior High School.

4:30 p.m.: Boys and girls varsity track and field vs. multiple schools at Monticello High School

Thursday, April 13

4:30p.m.: Boys and girls modified track and field vs. multiple school vs. Sullivan West in Jeffersonville

4:30 p.m.: Varsity softball vs. Chester Academy at Liberty High School
Results: Chester 23, Liberty 0
All 9 of Chester’s starters had hits and their offense pounded out 19 hits to easily defeat Liberty 23-0. Six different Hambletonian hitters had doubles. Chester’s Molly Farley and Ayla Chaluisan combined to pitch a 5-inning no-hitter in the shutout while striking out 8 and walking just 1 in the win. Aaliyah Williams and Arianna Wilson each reached base for Liberty. Liberty’s record falls to 1-2 (1-1 League) and Chester’s record improves to 3-1 (1-0 League).

4:30 p.m.: Modified baseball vs. Eldred at Eldred High School baseball Field

4:30 p.m.: Modified softball vs. Eldred at Eldred High School

5 p.m.: JV softball vs. Chester Academy at Maple Avenue School in Chester.

Friday, April 14

3:15 p.m.: Girls varsity golf vs. Ellenville at Shawangunk Country Club
Results: Ellenville 190 Liberty 194; Liberty scores: Alli Dworetsky 63 Summer Schmidt 63 Sandra Hanofee 68

4:30 p.m.: Varsity baseball vs. Chester Academy at Liberty High School

4:30 p.m.: Boys varsity tennis (with Monticello) vs. Monroe-Woodbury at Central Valley Elementary School

4:45 p.m.: Varsity softball vs. John S. Burke Catholic at Liberty High School
Results: Burke Catholic 21, Liberty 7: Burke Catholic broke open what had been a close game by scoring 10 runs in the 5th and 6th inning as they pulled away to defeat Liberty 21 – 7. Grace Wormuth led Liberty’s offense going 2-3 with a walk, stolen base and two runs scored. Quinn Allen contributed a double, walk and 3 RBI. Megan Schmidt and Angelica Rothberg each scored twice. Angelica and Julia Juron also had singles. Liberty’s record falls to 1-3.

5 p.m.: JV baseball vs. Chester Academy at Maple Avenue School in Chester

5 p.m.: JV Softball vs. Onteora at Onteora High School
