Softball

Tri Valley 6, Liberty 5

Liberty had the tying and winning runs in scoring position in the bottom of the 7th inning, but could not finish the rally as Tri-Valley hung on for a 6-5 victory over the Indians. Grace Wormuth led the Liberty offense again as she went 1-3 with a double, RBI, and 2 runs scored. Rebecca Philips chipped in two hits and had an RBI. Aidan Whitehead recorded her first Varsity hit and scored a run, and Yanire Wilson added an RBI single. Rebecca had another good game in the circle pitching 7 strong innings giving up just 1 earned run on 6 hits while striking out 5.

Tuesday, May 25

Girls Track

O’Neill 67 Liberty 19
Fallsburg 31 Liberty 29

Five members of the Girls Varsity track team traveled to O’Neill to compete against both O’Neill and Fallsburg. White several girls turned in impressive performances, their lack of numbers at this meet did not allow them to cover enough events to overcome the two larger teams.

Dianna Marty was an overall winner in the high jump and Alyssa Kavleski won overall in the triple jump. Against both schools, Zeimoni Dansby placed second in the 400, Rayanna Cottman was third in the long jump, Dianna was third in the 100 with Alyssa finishing 3rd in the 200. The 4×100 relay team of Zeimoni, Rayanna, Dianna, and Alyssa was second, setting a season-best time in their performance.

The Boys Varsity track team traveled to O’Neill to compete against O’Neill and Fallsburg. Gabe Desrochers won the long jump and was second in the 400m dash. John Nolan placed second in the 110HH. Jose Luna was third in the 800m run and second in the triple jump. Juan Romero was third in the triple jump.

Softball

Liberty 6 Tri-Valley 4 (game suspended in 6th inning due to rain)
In a weather-shortened game, Liberty’s offense came alive late against Tri-Valley as they grabbed a 6-4 lead before thunderstorms cut the game short. Rebecca Philips led the way with two doubles and an RBI triple. She also scored a run and had a stolen base. Grace Wormuth drove in two runners with a 6th inning single while Aidan Whitehead scored twice for the Indians. Brooke Nichols, Yanire Wilson, and McKayla Bivins also had hits for Liberty. Rebecca had another good game in the circle pitching a 4-hitter while striking out 5 and walking just one.

Thursday, May 27

Girls Track

All seven members of the Girls Varsity Track team traveled to TriValley on a beautiful Thursday afternoon for a four-team exhibition meet. The girls had a great showing against TriValley, Fallsburg, and Eldred.

Katrina Blais won the 100 hurdles and was 2nd in the 400. Alyssa Kavleski won the triple jump and was 2nd in the 200 and 3rd in the 100. Dianna Marty was 2nd in the 100 and 3rd in the 200. Rayanna Cottman was 5th in long jump and discus. Ashlyn Nivelo was 6th in discus and ran the 1500 meters for the first time ever and finished 4th. Jordan Raynor was 2nd in shot and disc. Her throw in the discus was a new personal best and nearly 8 feet farther than her previous best.
The 4×100 and 4×400 relays placed first. Competing on the 4×100 team were Alyssa, Dianna, Rayanna, and Zeimoni Dansby. The 4×400 team consisted of Zeimoni, Dianna, Rayanna, and Katrina.The team will compete on June 9 in the Class C sectional meet.

Boys Track

The Liberty Boys Spring track team traveled to TriValley for an exhibition meet against TriValley and Fallsburg.

Gabe Desrochers won the 400m dash and was second in the 800m run. Wayne Kratz was second in the 200m dash and third in the 100m dash. John Nolan was second in the 110HH.

John Nolan was fourth in the shot put. Gabe Desrochers was second in the long jump by 1/2 inch. Jose Barragan was third in the triple jump. Juan Romero was sixth in the triple jump.

The 4×400 team of Gabe Desrochers, Wayne Kratz, Jose Barragan, and Juan Romero took first place breaking 4 minutes! The 4×100 team of Wayne Kratz, John Nolan, Jose Barragan, and Darian Jackson placed second.
