Ellenville’s bats were hot all afternoon as they pounded out fourteen hits and scored in each inning. Yanire Wilson had two singles and drove in all four runs for Liberty in the defeat. Brooke Nichols, Yanira Wilson, and Rebecca Philips also had hits. Jessica Dworetsky scored two runs.

Softball

Chester 9  Liberty 1 @ Liberty

Four-time defending League Champion Chester batted around in the top of the 6th inning to break open what had been a close game. Grace Wormuth had a big day going 2-3 with 2 singles. Mikayla Bivins had an RBI single and Quinn Allen got her first Varsity hit for the Indians. Yanira Wilson also had a single. Rebecca Philips pitched well for Liberty giving up just 4 earned runs while striking out three and walking one.

Girls Track

On a mostly sunny Wednesday afternoon, the Girls Varsity Track team competed with only 6 girls but had a terrific showing with each girl scoring in at least one event toward the team total!

Overall first-place finishers, against both teams, were Katrina Blais in 100 hurdles, Dianna Marty in the high jump, and the 4×100 relay team of Katrina, Dianna, Rayanna Cottman, and Alyssa Kavleski. Jordan Raynor, Rayanna, and Ashlyn Nivelo swept discus against Burke.

The Boys Varsity Track team competed with seven athletes against two squads with over twice their number. Despite the disadvantage in number, the Indians had some big performances. All members of the team scored at least a point for their team.

Junior Gabe Desrochers, competing for the first time in long jump, uncorked a leap of 18 feet to place second overall. Gabe also won the 400 against both Port Jervis and Burke and was second overall in the 800.  Freshman Carlos Campos-Castro placed second overall in the 1600. Carlos also was second in the 800 against Burke. Junior Wayne Kratz  was second against Burke in the 100 and 200. Wayne also won the high jump against Burke and was third against Port Jervis. Junior Juan Romero placed second overall in the triple jump and third overall in the 400. Juan was third in the 800 against Burke. Senior John Nolan placed second and third against Burke and Port Jervis in the 110 HH before leaving the meet with an injury. Freshman Nate Desrochers took second in the shot put against Burke. Junior Darian Jackson took second against Burke in the high jump.

The 4×400 team of Gabe Desrochers, Wayne Kratz, Juan Romero and Carlos Campos-Castro lost by a second to Port Jervis but defeated Burke.

Girls Track

The Girls Varsity Track team competed in an exhibition meet on Friday against TriValley and Fallsburg.   The 4×100 team of Katrina Blais, Alyssa Kavleski, Rayanna Cottman, and Dianna Marty placed first.  Other first-place finishers were Jordan Raynor in the shot put and Alyssa in the triple jump. Alyssa was also 2nd in the 200 and 3rd in the 100 and Jordan was 3rd in the discus.
Katrina placed 2nd in her other three events.  Rayanna was second in the long jump and placed in her other 2 events.  Diana was second in the 100 and high jump and third in the 200.  Ashlyn Nivelo placed in the 200 and discus.

Boys Track

On Friday the Boys Varsity Track team competed with seven athletes at TriValley in an exhibition meet against TriValley and Fallsburg.

Wayne Kratz won the 200 and placed 3rd in the 100 dash. Gabe Desrochers won the 800 and long jump. Gabe was 2nd in the 1600. Juan Romero won the 400 and was 4th in the 800. John Nolan won the shot put. Darian Jackson placed 2nd in the 200. Jose Luna was 2nd in the triple jump.

The 4×100 team of Wayne Kratz, Jose Luna, Darian Jackson and John Nolan was second. The 4×400 team of Jose Luna, Gabe Desrochers, Juan Romero, and Wayne Kratz placed second.
