National PTA has awarded the Liberty Schools PTA with a $1,000 grant to promote family engagement in education during Take Your Family to School Week, Feb. 11-17. The Liberty Schools PTA is one of only 55 PTAs nationwide selected to receive a grant. The grant recognizes the district’s leadership and commitment to strengthening family engagement to support student success and school improvement efforts.
“Family engagement in education is proven to positively impact student, school and community outcomes,” said Jim Accomando, president of National PTA. “National PTA’s Take Your Family to School Week reinforces PTA’s long legacy and mission to promote children’s educational success, health and well-being through strong family engagement. National PTA is thrilled to equip Liberty Schools PTA with resources to get more families involved in their child’s education, particularly as part of Take Your Family to School Week.”
National PTA’s Take Your Family to School Week is designed to encourage families to visit their child’s school and get more involved in their education as well as strengthen partnerships between parents, teachers and administrators. The timing of the week honors the day PTA was founded, Feb. 17, 1897.
With the grant, Liberty Schools PTA will partially fund a dental health night on Thursday, Feb. 15 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Liberty Elementary School Cafeteria where students and their parents can enjoy a free dinner, watch the documentary film “Sugar Rush” and take part in dental themed giveaways. More information about the Feb. 15 event will be posted to the district’s Facebook page and website as soon as it becomes available.
The grant is made possible by support from PTA Proud National Sponsors the all-new Chrysler Pacifica and Google Chromebooks.
