Parent information regarding the LES Read-A-Thon

The Liberty Schools School PTA is very pleased to announce its annual Elementary School Read-A-Thon.

Designed to ignite a love of reading, this PTA fundraiser raises money without the need to recruit student salesmen and women or the need to split profits with another organization.

Will you please join us in asking friends and family members to sponsor your child as s/he pledges to read at least 10 minutes a day?

The PTA has made the Read-A-Thon easy and fun and is hoping that everyone will participate to make it a huge success for our school. The best part of the Read-A-Thon is that 100 percent of the money raised will stay at Liberty Elementary School and directly benefit its students by bringing the musical extravaganza Pete the Cat to Liberty Elementary for a special assembly.

Here’s how it works:
Elementary school parents will be given a packet that contains the Read-A-Thon rules, an overview of the prizes, a participation form, a sponsorship form, and a calendar to record minutes read each night. Your child can begin setting his/her reading goals and ask people to sponsor them right away. Sponsors can pledge to pay a certain amount per minute that your child reads or is read to. They can also pledge a flat amount to encourage your child to meet his/her reading goal. Remind your child that relatives, neighbors, family friends, coaches and even often-frequented businesses make GREAT sponsors! All donations are tax deductible. Your child can continue collecting sponsors throughout the Read-A-Thon.

Your child will track the minutes they read outside of school each day from March 5-16. Forms and any money collected are due back by March 23. Please initial your child’s recording calendar each day, as classrooms will be keeping track of their collective minutes. Individual prizes will be awarded for all who participate; there will be classroom prizes as well.
