NYS ELA, Math Assessments offered this spring

This spring, all Liberty students in Grades 3-8, including those on a fully remote schedule, will be offered the opportunity to take the New York State ELA and Mathematics Assessments, providing the district with important information about what our students have learned and mastered.

This year’s assessments are shorter than in recent years and will be given in-person only. Students will take the tests at the elementary and the middle school, and all safety protocols, such as masks and social distancing, will be followed. (Last year, because of the pandemic, New York received permission from the U.S. Department of Education to cancel the tests.)

Please remember that your child’s scores on the state tests will not affect their grades. As always, the district’s priority is our students’ safety and wellness. If you have any questions about the assessments please contact your child’s building principal:

Remote Learners

If your child is on a 100 percent remote learning schedule, submit an Opt In Form by April 9 for each child that will be coming to their school building and taking the assessments. Please answer all questions, including the transportation question. If you are unable to complete the form contact your child’s school.
