New CDC guidance allows for 3′ social distancing on school buses

Updated guidance from the CDC has enabled the district to revise our school bus protocols.

Beginning immediately, students should remain 3 feet apart while on a school bus. Children from the same household may sit together. (This new guidance replaces the prior protocol, which called for a distance of 6 feet between students.)

Students must continue to wear masks while riding the school bus. When possible, school bus windows should be open to enhance ventilation, the CDC says.

The health and safety of our students will always be our priority, and the district will continue to follow the recommendations of the CDC and state and local health departments as more is learned about COVID-19 and how to prevent its transmission.

If you have any questions about the updated bus ridership protocols, please email Rodney Asse, Interim School Business Official, or call 845-292-6171.
