LMS music classrooms temporarily closed for cleaning

Update: 9/10/18

Students will not be able to use any of the three middle school music rooms or instruments until the air has been tested. We estimate the testing process will take 7-10 days and will post updates as soon as they are available.

Original Letter: 9/5/18

Dear Families,

We’ve recently received reports of mold in each of our three middle school music classrooms as well as part of the auxiliary gymnasium. While this type of mold can be common and the problem areas appear to be isolated, we are making some classroom shifts while these rooms are thoroughly cleaned and tested for air and moisture quality.

Any middle school student who has music, band or chorus will be directed to a different classroom; ninth period band and chorus will take place in the high school auditorium, while general music classes will take place in room 320 of the middle school.

We thank you for your patience as we take the necessary steps to ensure our classrooms are safe environment for our students and staff.  Once the rooms have been tested and cleared, music classes will take place in their regular classrooms.

We also apologize for the short notice and hope that you can share this information with your child before the start of school tomorrow, Sept. 6. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me in the Liberty Middle School main office.
