LMS, LHS placed on temporary hold in place, Sept. 28

On Thursday, Sept. 28, Liberty Middle/High School initiated a hold in place procedure at about 9:05 a.m. after officials were notified that a night custodian had found an unspent shotgun shell in the boys’ bathroom located near the gymnasium.

The custodian found the shell after the girls’ volleyball game, which ended around 8 p.m.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Village of Liberty Police Department was notified. The district’s School Resource Officer Devin Brust, conducted a search and was accompanied by the New York State Police Department’s K9 Unit.

No other suspicious items were located. The hold in place was lifted by 9:45 a.m. and all normal classes and activities resumed.
