Liberty receives grant for golf team
Liberty High School was recently the recipient of a $500 grant through Steward’s Holiday Match. The money will be used by our athletics department for the golf team.
“We are appreciative of Stewart’s Shops and their customers for their generosity and assistance to our student golfers,” Liberty Athletic Director Erin Alvord said.
Since 1986, Stewart’s Shops has collected donations from its customers from Thanksgiving until Christmas and matched the donations to award funds to organizations in its service area.
This season, Stewart’s received nearly 2,000 applications requesting more than $5 million in support but had raised $2 million to donate. “With so many worthy organizations, we were forced to make some especially hard decisions, focusing on needs versus wants,” the award letter read. “We realize the pandemic put strains on many organizations and we greatly appreciate your creative approach toward sustainability.”
