LES staff member tests positive for COVID-19 | LES remains open as scheduled

The district has learned that a Liberty Elementary School staff member has tested positive for COVID-19.

Our thoughts are with the individual who tested positive and we wish them a speedy recovery. Privacy laws restrict the disclosure of personally identifiable information of anyone who has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The staff member was on campus today and went home feeling unwell. The staff member was tested for COVID-19 a short time later and diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Staff members and parents and guardians of students who may be at risk for exposure to COVID-19 have been individually notified by a building administrator. Contact tracers from Sullivan County Public Health Services also reach out to people at risk for contracting the coronavirus and advise them of what steps to take.

In addition, an LES staff member went home today upon learning that a member of their household had tested positive for COVID-19. This individual was not in contact with students.

Liberty Elementary School remains open for in-person instruction as scheduled.
