The district has learned that a Liberty Elementary School staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was last on campus Jan. 12.
Liberty Elementary has been on fully-remote instruction since Jan. 13, when the district received notification that several students had tested positive for COVID-19. The resulting mandated quarantine of teachers and staff made it impossible to adequately staff the building with substitutes.
The building has been deep cleaned and sanitized. In-person instruction at the elementary school is expected to resume Jan. 27.
Our thoughts are with the individuals who have tested positive and we wish them a speedy recovery. Privacy laws restrict the disclosure of personally identifiable information of anyone who has tested positive for the coronavirus.
Staff members and parents and guardians of students who may be at risk for exposure to COVID-19 are individually notified by a building principal, administrator or school nurse. Contact tracers from Sullivan County Public Health Services also reach out to people at risk for contracting the coronavirus and advise them of what steps to take.
For more information about our health and safety procedures please reach out to your building principal. Questions about COVID-19 should be directed to your healthcare provider or Sullivan County Public Health Services at 845-292-5910.
