On Tuesday, Sept. 19 officials from Liberty High School suspended two students in unrelated incidents, one for possession of marijuana and one student for possession of two small* knives.
The students will be facing disciplinary consequences in accordance with the Liberty Central School District Code of Conduct and Board of Education policies. The Village of Liberty Police Department has been notified.
When a student violates these policies, we follow strict procedures in order to ensure the ongoing safety of students, staff members and visitors to our campus. A student suspected to be in possession of a drug, weapon or dangerous instrument is immediately reported to law enforcement, suspended from school and referred to a hearing with the superintendent of schools. This process can result in additional penalties imposed by the superintendent and possible criminal charges as well.
The district takes incidents such as these very seriously and will take all measures necessary to insure the safety of our students and staff. If you have any questions about Liberty safety procedures and protocols, please contact the main office of your child’s school.
