Letter from Varsity football coach Joe Franke

Dear Liberty Football Family:

Hello, my name is Joseph Franke and I am a fifth grade teacher at Liberty Middle School. I enjoyed playing football, basketball and baseball at Liberty Central School District before playing four years of collegiate baseball at SUNY Oneonta. I am humbled and excited to be appointed to lead this successful program, as the Varsity Football Head Coach for the 2018 season! With Liberty Pride in mind, I would like to give a few key pieces of information:

Summer workouts are optional, but highly recommended for players going into grades 9-12 only. Our weekly schedule for summer workouts is:

Monday- 5:30-7 p.m. (Weight room and on-field work)
Tuesday – 9-10 a.m. (Weight room)
Wednesday- 9-10 a.m.(Weight room)
Thursday-No Practice
Friday-5:30-7 p.m. (Weight room and on-field work)

Mandatory practice for Junior Varsity and Varsity football starts on Monday, August 13. Mandatory practice from August 13 until school starts will be from 5-7:30 p.m.

Players should expect to practice one morning on the weekend .

Modified players (Grades 7 and 8) should be prepared for practice on the first day of school.

Every player needs a yellow card and physical signed by the nurse, who will be at the school 8-12 pm and 3-5 pm on August 13. Please prepare to come to school early to allow time for this process to occur.

Players should wear cleats to all practices .

Only players can download the SportsYou app and join the Liberty Football 2018 group using the code CDXGX3YP for updates about workouts and practices.

We would love to see as many players as possible during summer workouts and on the first day of practice. We encourage anyone interested and committed to join our family. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at jfranke@libertyk12.org.
