For the 2019-2020 school year, all students at Liberty High School will be issued a Chromebook that may be used at school and at home to enhance their educational opportunities and experiences. The mission of the District’s 1:1 Chromebook Initiative is to ensure that all students in grades 9-12 have access to the digital tools and resources to allow them to be successful learners at the high school and outside of the school day. Additionally, this will provide equal access to technology for our students and staff. To help reach this goal, we will provide our students with digital devices that can expand their learning opportunities.
We would like to help parents and students better understand these opportunities and responsibilities associated with the new devices. With this in mind, parents of 9th-12th grade students must attend our parent information session before we can issue a Chromebook to your child in September 2019. Our parent information session will be held from 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 in the LHS David E. Panebaker Auditorium. Any parent who will be unable to attend the August informational meeting will be required to either view our informational video online (the link will be provided at a later date) or attend the informational session at Open House on September 12, 2019. In addition, parents and students must complete the “LCSD Student/Parent Device Agreement” form located in the back of the User Guide and return it to the High School Main Office where it will be kept on file. This must be turned in prior to being issued a Chromebook in September 2019. Chromebooks will be collected prior to classes ending in June.
Students will be provided with information about the care and use of their Chromebook during Homeroom at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year. This will allow the students to better understand the benefits of the program and the responsibilities that they have as part of the 1:1 Chromebook Initiative.
If you have any questions or concerns about attending the informational session, please feel free to contact the LHS Main Office at 845-292-5400, extension 2005.
