Board appoints Sandy Wagner as assistant superintendent

The Liberty Central School District Board of Education is happy to announce the appointment of Sandy Wagner as Assistant Superintendent, effective immediately.

Currently Director of Technology of the Liberty Central School District, Mr. Wagner is a longtime educator and technology specialist who has served in various administrative positions since 2001, including Technology Integration Specialist for the Geneva City School District and Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES and Director of Technology for the Trumansburg Central School District and Auburn Enlarged City School District. Prior to taking on administrative duties, Mr. Wagner spent over a decade as a classroom teacher.

Mr. Wagner was selected among six semi-finalists and three finalists from across the state considered for the position. The board chose him as its top candidate because of his focus and proven success in improving student achievement across the district, fostering innovative ways of addressing gaps, experience collaborating and working with higher education, as well as his diversity of experience in education and technology.

The district is confident that Mr. Wagner will continue to advance all that has made this district a great place for student learning and achievement. We ask that the district’s staff, parents and community join us in welcoming him as our new assistant superintendent.

Mr. Wagner succeeds Carol Napolitano who retired at the end of the 2015-16 school year.
