A message from the high school principal
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
Our business teacher, Dan Hart has been out on leave and will not be returning to the classroom as he retires at the end of the school year. Mr. Hart is still involved in supporting his classes and our permanent substitute, Stacey Reuss. We wish Mr. Hart best wishes in retirement, and thank him for his dedicated service to our district, school, and students.
One of our math teachers, Lindsey Murphy will be taking a leave of absence as she welcomes a child. We wish her and her new baby the best. We are currently working through several options to cover her classes and to prepare students for the Regents exams.
On a separate note, the high school is trialing vape sensors from different companies before investing in the products for future use. Vaping is a terrible problem in high schools across the country, and limits our ability to keep your children safe, and in class. In addition, abuse of our bathroom facilities from fads such as TikTok challenges, and unhealthy behaviors lead us to find ways of limiting the use of our restrooms to what they are designed for. These sensors detect vapor in a similar fashion as a smoke detector, along with loud noises, and tampering with the device. When the device is triggered, administrators are alerted to the location via text and email. Our intentions are to keep students in classes, safe, and respecting our facilities.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
All the Best,
Derek Adams
High School Principal
