Liberty High photography students will display their photography at the “Staying Focused” exhibit at the Liberty Public Library during the month of February.
The hard work and talent of our student artists will be celebrated at the exhibit’s opening reception on Friday, Feb. 3 from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Liberty Public Library.
The reception is open and free to the public. Light refreshments will be provided courtesy of the Friends of the Liberty Library. Light refreshments provided by the Friends of Liberty Library will be available.
Students will be on hand during the opening reception to discuss their work, the thought process behind it and plans for the future.

Earlier this year, Liberty Central School District invited all parents, teachers, paraprofessionals, and students in grades 3–12 to participate in its Diagnostic Tool for School and District Effectiveness (DTSDE) Survey.
The district would like to thank everyone who was a part of our survey. We heard from almost 1,200 students, parents, and teachers. We’ll use your feedback to ensure Liberty Central School District is a great place for every student to learn and grow.
Mandated by the New York State Department of Education for Priority and Focus Schools, the DTSDE Survey asked about six topics: District leadership and capacity, school leader practices and decisions, curriculum development and support, teacher practices and decisions, student social and emotional developmental health, and family and community engagement.
We’re happy to share that 89 percent of parents said their child is accepted in his or her school, and nine out of 10 elementary and secondary students said their teachers want them to do their best.
Other highlights include:
• 87 percent of parents said there is a teacher, counselor, or other staff member to whom their child can go to for help with a problem.
• 88 percent of parents said teachers are knowledgeable about the subjects they teach.
• Teachers overwhelmingly said student progress is monitored by both formative (95 percent) and summative (97 percent) assessments.
• 96 percent of teachers said they use data to determine students’ strengths and weaknesses.
• 89 percent of elementary students and 92 percent of secondary students said they have the supplies they need for school.
• 90 percent of elementary students said they are safe in school.
• 87 percent of secondary students said they learn from class lessons.
This survey also identified some opportunities for improvement, including encouraging more parental involvement in school, clearly explaining the reasons behind decisions on key issues, and establishing strong school-community partnerships.
All three respondent groups also identified bullying as a concern.
Our goal is to learn from our community what practices and programs most benefit our students and where we should focus improvement efforts. Working together, we can ensure that every child is equipped to pursue their dreams and build a successful future.
