Welcome to Liberty Middle School!

We are located in the heart of the Sullivan County Catskills. Our school is one of three in the district and houses grades 5 through 8. The Middle School and High School share a campus on Buckley Street.

We embrace the district mission of “…inspire all students to pursue their dreams and to contribute and thrive in a diverse community.” We inspire through academic pursuits and encourage community through projects and service. Our National Junior Honor Society and our Student Council are both active organizations and provide the outlet and the guidance for students to become contributing members of the community. They begin to see the fruits of their efforts and enjoy the satisfaction of giving.

At the Liberty Middle School our mission is to produce competent and confident students who are capable of current and future educational success. We accomplish this mission by providing a stimulating environment that promotes learning, cooperation, and responsibility using an integrated curriculum relevant to student needs delivered by a knowledgeable and dedicated staff.

We have a positive environment and culture thanks to the PBIS initiative. You can look at this initiative more closely by going to their website, www.pbis.org. What PBIS stands for is Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. What it means day to day is that we follow four district-wide expectations: ‘Be Responsible,’ ‘Be Respectful,’ ‘Be There Be Ready’ and ‘Follow all directions.’ We teach the students what that means and what it looks like in all areas of their school life. In focusing on their positive behavior we encourage the students to take responsibility for their actions and for their school. Empowering them gives students a greater investment in their school. Students become role models for one another.

The best team to educate our students is a trio of teacher – student – parent. We are always interested in feedback from parents and community, and always welcome your comments and suggestions. Thank you for stopping by to visit!
