Practice Tips:  How Do You Know If You Are Playing Correctly?

But how does one know if it is correct or not?  Usually if it doesn't sound correct, then it probably is not correct and the student should examine the notes to be sure they are playing what's on the page.  If it doesn't feel right rhythmically, then it probably isn't correct and the student should examine the rhythms to be sure they are accurate.
Things to check if the rhythms don't feel or sound right are:
   1.  Am I keeping a steady beat?
   2.  Am I giving the notes and rests the correct values?
   3.  Am I placing the notes and rests to the steady beat with the correct values?
