Meet Your Teacher
I grew up in Livingston Manor and graduated from the Livingston Manor Central School in 1976.  I attended Ithaca College and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Education in 1980 with my major emphasis being instrumental music and my major instrument being the trumpet.  After graduation, I taught general and vocal music to grades K-12 in Livingston Manor from 1980-1983.  In 1983-84 I returned to Ithaca College for a year a completed my masters in music education with an emphasis on vocal music and a major in piano.  I came to Liberty in September of 1984 where I taught was hired as the Junior Senior High Band Director.  From 1985 - 1990 I taught instrumental music at the Liberty Elementary School for grades 4-6 and when the Middle School was built I moved there where I have taught ever since.  I currently teacher middle school instrumental music to students in grades 5 - 7.  I conduct the middle school band, jazz ensemble, woodwind ensemble and percussion ensemble and have been the Director of Music here in Liberty since 1985.

My Family and I currently reside in Liberty as we moved here from Livingston Manor in 1998.  I am married to Judy Haas Siegel and we have two children, Georgia and Max.  Judy is a real estate buyer's broker for her own company called Catskills Buyer Agency.  Georgia attends Liberty High School and Max attends Liberty Middle School.

Professionally I am an active member of the Sullivan County Music Educators' Association, the New York State School Music Association, and the Music Educators National Conference.  I serve on the NYSSMA Government Relations Committee and have chaired numerous SCMEA and NYSSMA Music Festivals including All-County, Area All-State and NYSSMA Solo Festivals.  I am also a member of the Liberty Central School Buildings and Grounds Commitee.

Outside of school I am very active in the community.  I am Vice President of the Liberty ALIVE group, a member of the Liberty Revitalization Committee, a member of the Liberty Economic Action Project Steering Committee.    I am a member of the Livingston Manor Rotary Club and have chaired the annual Ice Carnival for the past 18 years.  In addition I am Vice President of the Lazare and Charlotte Kaplan Foundation and the treasurer of Congregation Agudas Achim.  I enjoy exercising, running, skiing, basketball and life in general.  I am proud to be a teacher in the Liberty Central School District and to be a resident of this fine community.
