Algebra 1B
Curriculum
This is the second year of a two-year sequence in Algebra 1 culminating in a regents examination in June.
A passing grade of 65% is needed to satisfy the PlaceNameplaceNew York PlaceTypeState Requirements for a high school diploma.
You will also need to complete an additional yearlong course in mathematics to satisfy the minimum requirements for graduation.
Topics to be covered this year:
Graph linear and quadratic functions and relations.
Graph and solve linear inequalities and systems of inequalities.
Solve a system of linear open sentences in two variables both algebraically and graphically.
Completely factor the difference of two perfect squares and trinomials in the form ax2 + bx + c.
Perform all operations with algebraic fractions.
Solve equations and inequalities with terms that are algebraic fractions.
Perform all operations on irrational numbers.
Solve quadratic equations using several methods.
Solve systems of one linear and one quadratic function algebraically and graphically.
Calculate linear regressions (lines of best fit) and determine their correlation coefficients.
Interpret how changing parameters effects the graphs of functions.
Construct histograms, cumulative frequency histograms, scatter plots, and box-and-whisker graphs.
