Math
Always read the entire problem first
Be sure you know what the "givens" are
Be sure you know what is being asked
Write down the information you know
Draw and label a diagram
Use a straightedge to draw

Algebraic solutions of word problems require LET statements
Always check your answers
Be NEAT; student often get problems wrong when they cannot read their writing
ALWAYS fill in some answer
Partial credit is usually awarded
A blanks answer results in 0 points
Computers
Take careful notes during lectures
Bring your notes to class everyday
Copy part of pervious pages to save time
Use time in class wisely
Plan outside of class
Write pages or scripts in class
Ask questions when you have tried but something didn't work
Look at other people's pages and scripts
Look at classmate's pages
Look at the teacher's pages and school website
Look at other sites on the web
Ask "How did they do that?"
Surf with a critical eye
Don't just jump from site to site
Take a minute to see what is presented well and what is not
Develop a sense of style or your own
Enhance your pages and scripts
Web pages can use the following to be more effective
JavaScripts for interactivity
Flash buttons and movies
Java applets to add features
Many features can be added without knowledge of how they were done
Follow directions on the website
Paste the code into your own page
Do NOT add too many useless features that serve no purpose
