Assignments
Assignments will be listed by class & period.

Period A & I.  Photo 1, 2 & 3:
Photo 1 has the following assignments for the first half year.
Depth of Field- Using the aperture to control how much of the image is in focus.
Shutter Speed- Control the way moving objects are "captured" by using a slow shutter speed to see the object moving blur, a fast shutter speed to freeze the object in action and don't forget panning- moving with the object to try to get it in focus while seeing the stabile background blur.  Refer to the handout for more details.
Point of View: Seeing the ordinary in an extraordinary way- use any object or scenario and shoot the same thing 6 times looking at it from a lower, higher and other angles you wouldn't see the object or scenario from. Choose 4 objects each from 6 view points!
Social Statement: Identify something happening in the world that you want to change and you, as an artist, need to make a statement in a single image that would persuade others to feel the change is necessary.  Can you activate someone through your art?  Can YOU Affect change??
Holiday Spirit :  Capture the feeling, th eempathy of what the holiday, any holiday , means to you - are you stressed?  Feel excited?  How can you share that with your viewer?
Architecture: View a building, just one, by using point of view, looking at lines, taking part of the building instead of all of it, altering your aperture and shooting from different distances. Choose a building you have an interest in , that you are drawn to and that visually stimulates you.
Solarization, Paper Negative, Masking: You have worked with burning and dodging to correct images, now we can go further and alter the way you bring your work across to your viewer- to become a secondary artist in the darkroom as well as behind the lens.
Your binders will be checked and you will need to present a portfolio of 5 images not included in your assignments to make up your first portfolio.
