Free summer program for grades 7-12

SUNY Sullivan Liberty Partnerships invites all registered middle and high school students in grades 7-12 to apply for its free summer program, which will run Monday through Thursday, from July 9 – August 2, 2018, from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Programming will take place at SUNY Sullivan in Loch Sheldrake, NY. Busing will be provided from and back to the Fallsburg, Liberty and Monticello school district campuses.

The following subjects and activities will be provided:

Arts: Vocal ensemble, expression through dance, drumming circle, crafts workshop

Personal Development: Intro to leadership and self-advocacy; Leadership in arts – confidence through drama, social awareness; Career Spotlight – find your passion, college conversations; and A Healthier You – health, wellness and happiness

Academics: Skills prep for August Regents testing; and Optional college level course, 3 credits

Recreation: games/outdoor activities

Health, Sustainability and Farm-to-table: Hands-on experience with farming and sustainability: Tend the SUNY Sullivan farm and LPP community garden; learn about farming, farm equipment, and the science behind farming. The program will include an introduction to green technology, and will provide access to SUNY Sullivan culinary facilities for learning how to prepare and enjoy the students’ harvest. This program will work in tandem with classroom sessions about health, wellness & happiness.
