DAILY ROUTINES/GENERAL INFORMATION
Absences/Early Leave Request Procedure Parents/Guardians should call Central Registration (ext. 2330), when their child is absent from school. Parents/Guardians who do not phone in will receive a phone call from an automated machine. Each child must submit a written excuse from the parent/guardian upon return to school immediately after any absence. If an excuse is not brought in, the absence is considered illegal. Illegal absences cannot be made up. In the case of prolonged or excessive absences, the school may require medical certification.
1) Students should bring a note from a parent/guardian to the Welcome Desk immediately upon arrival at school and get an official early dismissal permission slip.
2) The note should clearly state the REASON for the early leave request, the SPECIFIC TIME requested, if the parent/guardian is giving a 2nd PARTY PERMISSION to pick up the student and the arrangements for TRANS- PORTATION. Only those individuals authorized by par- ents on the Student Emergency Form will be allowed to pick up the student.
3) If a student is driving (and has official permission to do so), the student will leave at the approved time. Loitering on school property, while on early leave, will mean automatic loss of this privilege for a time to be determined by admini- stration.
4) Students who have permission to leave school early must wait in the T1 Room until their transportation arrives. The Wel come Desk will notify the T1 Room when the student's transportation arrives.
Any student with an approved early leave must sign in at the Welcome Desk, if he/she returns to the school before the end of the school day. Students will not be allowed to leave and return during study halls, lunch etc. Leave/return permission will be granted for emergency doctor, clinic, court, and motor vehicle appointments.
6) Items 1-5 above should not be confused with Early Release Privileges (p. 44)
