1. AlphaSmarts (35) - Go to the website www.alphasmart.com and register for your free newletter, get the latest information about the AlphaSmart sent to your email address. Also, go to the Community Center, Education Division, and receive ideas and lesson plans.

3. LoTTIE Kit (Low Tech Tools for Inclusive Education) - is a collection of low and mid tech tools designed for teacher, classroom aides, and support professionals to use with students (grades K-12) who have special needs. This kit allows teachers to formally evaluate and try out simple devices before automatically requiring more sophisticated and expensive technologies. We have two kits in the district. 1. Inspiration (Ver. 6) - A visual thinking and learning tool that helps students to develop ideas and organize their thinking through diagramming and outlining. Great for brainstorming, concept mapping, and webbing your ideas. For more information, visit the website www.inspiration.com. Geared for grades 6-12. Available district-wide.
2. Kidspiration - Similar to Inspiration, described above, but geared for students, grades K-5, to see, organize, and develop their ideas through pictures and words. Available district-wide.
3. Read & Write (Ver. 5) - It is application software that works with ANY Windows-based application. It can be used with word processors, spreadsheets, databases, e-mail and the Internet. The toolbar "floats" on top of any open application, so that you can access it at any time. It will read selected text, or it will speak text as you type. It also provides word prediction assistance, a thesaurus, word wizard, pronunciation tutor, and a homonyms editor. There are various speech options available to choose from. Available district-wide.
4. Earobics - Used in the Elementary school, it is a supplemental early literacy solution designed to ensure foundational skills in the following areas: Phonemic Awareness, Language Enrichment, Letters and Sounds, Decoding & Spelling, Beginning Reading and Writing. 5. Dragon Naturally Speaking - A speech recognition software. Limited licensing.
6. Kurzweil 2000 - A software that helps people with reading or learning difficulties increase their reading speed and comprehension. Limited licensing.
