tabs box bottom border

Democrat Hillary Clinton should be the next president, according to votes cast in a mock election held among Liberty Middle/High School students.

The election exercise was held from Oct. 28 to Nov. 2 in conjunction with the National Parent / Student Mock Election, a nationwide mock election project for high school students and their families. The project, which began in 1980, involves 20,000 schools and five million voters during presidential election years. For these teenagers, nearly all of whom will be eligible voters in the election of 2020, the project teaches the significance and the excitement of the democratic process.

More than 280 students took part in the mock election. Students were able to cast a paper ballot vote for President, Senator and Congress of his or her district. Complete results are as follows:

President:
Hillary Clinton: 129
Donald Trump: 103
Jill Stein: 27
Gary Johnson: 15
Evan McMullin: 8
Zoltan Istvan: 1
Darrell Castle: 7

Senator:
Charles Schumer: 95
Robin Wilson: 64
Wendy Long: 108
Alex Merced: 19

Congress:
John Faso: 162
Zephyr Teachout: 127

The results from Liberty’s mock elections have aligned with the complete results of the National Parent/Student Mock Election. According to its website, in this year’s National Parent/Student Mock Election, Clinton won 317 electoral votes, while Donald Trump earned 221 electoral votes.
