On Tuesday, Oct. 25, Liberty High School initiated a stay put procedure at about 12:17 p.m. after a cafeteria worker notified high school administrators that a student exclaimed that there was a bomb in the school.
The student was immediately brought into the main office for questioning and admitted that it was a prank. In an abundance of caution, the high school principal and vice principal conducted a building sweep before lifting the stay put. The stay put procedure was lifted by 1:05 p.m.
Although the threat was unfounded, the student is facing disciplinary consequences in accordance with the Liberty Central School District Code of Conduct and Board of Education policies.
A stay put procedure is a precautionary measure that requires all students and staff to remain inside their classrooms.
The district takes threats very seriously and will take all measures necessary to insure the safety of our students and staff. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the superintendent's office at 292-6990.
