The Sullivan County BOCES School Library System Council awarded Principal Strassman for his dedication to improving literacy and reading comprehension among middle school students.
Mr. Strassman was recognized for his involvement with Pride
Also known as as sustained silent reading, Pride Period has become a time when everyone in the school stops to appreciate a book. Pride Period has become an integral part of the day that staff and students look forward to, Mr. Strassman said.
The program was implemented in the beginning of the school year as a way to improve reading comprehension and build reading stamina.
