On Friday, March 21, 2014, the Liberty Elementary School was placed in lock-down status due to an incident involving a non-teaching employee. While we are not at liberty to discuss the details of the incident, the lock-down was enacted as a precaution. There was no immediate threat to students at any time.
Please know that we are committed to the safety of all Liberty students. In recent months, all LES building personnel and students have been involved in training drills for incidents such as lock-down and stay-put conditions. Today, our students performed exceptionally well and followed the appropriate procedures and instructions.
The lock-down procedure, especially when enacted for an actual incident (and not a drill), can be a frightening experience for younger children. Please take the time to discuss today’s incident and assure your child that being placed in lock-down is done to make sure they are as safe as possible when something serious happens at school.
