Congratulations to eight Liberty student-musicians who were selected to represent LHS at the 2013 Area All-State Festival. Students are chosen based on their audition in the spring of 2013 at the NYSSMA Solo Music Festival (New York State School Music Association).
Selected for the Area All-State Chorus were William Killian, Brian Russell and Gwen Nieves. Jon Nilsen (bassoon) was selected for the AA-S Orchestra and Eileen Burke (flute), Kim Zuniga (flute), Myra McConnell (trombone) and Neftali Cubero, Jr. (bass trombone) were selected for AA-S Band.
William Killian was also selected as an Alternate for the 2013 All-State Mixed Chorus.
The Area All-State Festival showcases the talents of students in a particular region of New York State. Liberty is a part of Zone 9, which is also made up of Orange, Ulster, Greene and Rockland Counties.
The concert will take place on November 23 at the Tri-Valley Central School Auditorium (Moore Hill Road, Grahamsville, NY 12740). Concert 1 begins at 3:30 p.m. and features the Women’s Chorus and Symphonic Band. Concert 2 begins at 5:30 p.m. and features the Symphonic Orchestra and Mixed Chorus. Tickets are $8.
