LES students & faculty helps those in need during the holidays

tabs box bottom border

Liberty Elementary School faculty and students are participating in numerous drives to help those in need during holiday season.

During the months of November and December, non-perishable food items are being collected for local food pantries. The holiday season usually sees an increase in those needing food assistance, so this drive is particularly vital.

LES is also participating in the Liberty Elks Lodge 1545 holiday toy drive. New, unwrapped toys ranging in price from $5 - $7 are being accepted from now until Wednesday, December 1. The toys will be distributed at the Elks holiday party on Saturday, December 4 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Elks Lodge located at 21 Johns St., Liberty. All Liberty community children are invited to attend.

In need as well this holiday season are animal shelters. Mrs. Warren's second grade class is collecting items for the Rock Hill SPCA instead of exchanging gifts. From now until December 22, the class will be collecting donations of dog food & cat food (both wet and dry), brushes, cat litter, blankets, newspapers, towels, laundry detergent, latex gloves, dish soap, floor cleaner, collars and halters, double-sided cat bowls, durable pet toys, strong leashes, clorox disinfecting wipes and raw hide bones/ pig ears.

Items for all drives can be dropped off at the elementary school office. For more information, please call (845)292-5400 and ask for the elementary school.
