The Liberty Indians get amped up at last
year's pep rally
October 18, 2010
Spirit
week and pride weekend have long been autumn traditions at Liberty
Central School District. Centered around homecoming, Spirit Week is
about much more than football. It is about celebrating and honoring
our school, student athletes and community.
During spirit week, LHS students show their school spirit each day
in a number of fun and quirky ways. For example, Monday is crazy hat
day, Tuesday is mismatched day, Wednesday is teacher twin day,
Thursday are color wars (each class wears their color -
freshmen=yellow; sophomores=orange; juniors=green; seniors=purple)
and Friday is Red and White day and the pep rally.
"Spirit week is such a fun time for
everyone," says Principal Jack Strassman. "We all look great when we
wear our red and white, and we look forward to the community joining
us as we celebrate our student athletes."
Sporting events taking place all week (see schedule below), include
Thursday and Friday nights games under the lights. Additionally, a
chili cook-off on Friday night and a Fall Sports Festival for
students in grades K-8 on Saturday morning provide opportunities for
the community to support our schools.
Now in the 5th year, the Fall Sports Carnival will feature sporting
events, booths, snacks, prizes, and more. "Homecoming weekend is a
great way to get kids involved and a great opportunity for the
community to show their pride and see what Liberty has to offer,"
says LCSD Athletic Director Jason Semo.
