When students return to Liberty High School, not only will they notice a new look, but they will have access to many new facilities. The recent building project included major work on the high school, including a new library and media center, refurbished locker rooms and six new science laboratories.
The library and media center is the most visible aspect of the project, and is located at the front of the high school. The school’s new “green” building is designed as a” net-zero” structure, meaning it will produce as much energy as it uses. The building is one of the only known net-zero school facility in the state.
In addition, a covered walkway, foyer and main office have been added. Extensive locker room renovations began in March of 2010 and have been completed in time for the start of school. Six science classrooms have also been renovated to feature state-of-the-art laboratories.
“We are excited for our students to be able to utilize the remarkable new facilities,” states Principal Jack Strassman. “We are fortunate that the community supports our district and our students and look forward to sharing these facilities.”
