The main elements of the district building project at Liberty Elementary School have reached completion and faculty and staff are thrilled to welcome back students to the new and improved elementary school. Although construction will be on-going until January, 2011, the major elements are ready for students.

The new addition of eight classrooms will house pre-k and kindergarten students, and is connected to the new cafeteria and kitchen. Other site improvements include a circular drop-off loop and additional parking spaces, which has transformed the front of the school. An expanded playground with new equipment will be a highlight for students.

In addition, bathrooms have been renovated, windows replaced throughout most of the building, exterior façade repointed and the roof replaced. Other work, yet to be completed includes renovation of the current cafeteria into a library and media center, and the construction of a new elementary school foyer, elevator and main office.

“Watching and experiencing the transformation of the elementary school has had a big impact on the students,” states Elementary School Principal Jeri Finnegan. “I am excited to see the looks on their faces when they return to school.”
