The Liberty High School Band and Choir perform at the 2010 Prism Pops Concert.
The Liberty Central
School Music Department will kick off March as "Music in our Schools
Month" on Tuesday, March 1st with the Annual Pops Concert. The
concert will take place at 7:00 PM in the David E. Panebaker
Auditorium at Liberty High School.
There will also be a pancake dinner from 5-7 p.m. in the Liberty
High School Cafeteria. The dinner is sponsored by the LHS Student
Council and Interact Clubs and proceeds will benefit the St.
Baldrick’s Foundation. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for seniors
and students.
This year’s concert
format will feature the fourth annual prism concert at Liberty. A
prism concert is an interactive concert in which the different
participating ensembles perform in different areas of the auditorium
allowing the audience to encounter each group’s different moods
throughout the evening. The music is continuous and the performers
are set up in different positions throughout the auditorium. The
only time there is applause is at the very end of the concert.
“In an effort to make our concerts more audience friendly, we have
adopted the prism format,” says LCS Director of Music Gary Siegel.
The concert will begin promptly at 7 PM and will last approximately
one hour. The program will include performances by the numerous
ensembles from Liberty High and Middle School featuring popular
music both old and new.
